Still Born Series

Color and black & white lithographs on Japanese tissue paper, wax, thread. 2001-2005
This series is an investigation into the constant state of in-between, that is existence in the present, and the longing for stillness from this unease. The present is a point that shifts along the connection of past and future, through the recognition of memory and anticipation. This is a moment of disintegration and configuration, in a phase of unsettled tension. It is at this instance that a possible diversion from this experience is often made, by focusing on hope or nostalgia, but instead I am formulating a plea for stillness. The yearning for something never known, and possibly never attainable, is left forever frozen and unfulfilled.
